EADS officials are feeling confident about their bid for a $35 billion U.S. Air Force tanker award.
EADS, the parent company of Airbus, is competing against the Boeing Co. for the contract to supply the Air Force with 179 aerial refueling tankers. The two companies are supposed to submit their final bids to the Air Force on Friday.
Speaking in Alabama yesterday, an EADS official said the company feels “very comfortable” about where the company is in the competition, reported The Birmingham News.
The European company plans to assemble its tankers in Mobile. If EADS wins, it is prepared for Boeing to protest as it did in 2008.
