EVERETT – Five new stores have opened in Everett Mall, and the recently purchased shopping center says more new tenants are on the way.
The recently opened shops are Green Star Dollar Store, a general merchandise discount store; La Piel, which offers leather goods ranging from walls to luggage; Vida y Placer, a store selling imported Mexican pottery, pewter and glassware; Alara’s Braids &Beauty Supply, which specializes in ethnic hair care products and services; and Rialto Jewelers, which features jewelry and watches.
A new cosmetics store, an imported rugs shop and a business featuring back-related products plan to open later this summer, according to the mall’s management office.
In June, Steadfast Commercial Properties of Newport Beach, Calif., bought the 673,000-square-foot mall for $50.2 million. The shopping center previously was owned by Equitable Life Assurance Society of the United States, which took over three years ago after the former owner defaulted.
Everett Mall has about 120 shops, three movie screens and a food court. Anchor tenants are Sears, Bon-Macy’s and Mervyns. As of June, about 15 percent of the mall’s retail space was vacant.
Officials have said they plan to proceed with an expansion of the mall.
New stores at Alderwood
Alderwood mall announced Wednesday that two new businesses have committed to become part of the new outdoor shopping area known as The Village. Coming to the Lynnwood mall this fall will be World Wrapps, a Seattle-based chain that features meals wrapped in tortillas. Additionally, Oakley will open an O Store, its first in the state. The store will carry an array of Oakley’s eyewear, clothing and accessories. While construction continues on The Village on Alderwood’s north side, work also has begun on Loews’ new 16-screen movie theater complex on the south side.
