Everett’s Scuttlebutt Brewing Co. is now selling beer in Taiwan.
Cascadia Distributing of Seattle has shipped 72 cases, or 1,728 bottles, of the microbrew to Taipei, which it described as a burgeoning craft beer market.
Scuttlebutt provided 12-ounce bottles of its Porter, Amber Ale, Homeport Blonde Ale and Gale Force IPA on May 13, with the shipment set to arrive in Taipei in early June. Initially, it will be sold in high-end restaurants and bars.
If sales go well, it will also be sold in upscale markets, said Scuttlebutt’s Phil Bannan Jr.
Arthur Schile of Cascadia, which has an office in Taipei, said he expects the beer to do well. “We like the products, the packaging artwork and the story behind the brewery,” he said.
Scuttlebutt was started in 1996 by Phil and Scuttle Bannan. It is Washington’s 10th-largest brewery.
