EVERETT — Toy maker Funko added two heavy hitters in the corporate world to its board of directors Friday: retired Nike executive Charles Denson and McDonald’s former brand strategist Adam Kriger.
The new directors have proven track records of “driving the growth of some of the world’s largest and most respected consumer brands,” Funko chief executive Brian Mariotti said in a statement announcing the additions.
Sales of the Everett-based company’s pop culture figurines and other products have exploded in recent years.
Denson’s and Kriger’s expertise “will be invaluable as we implement new initiatives to drive future growth,” Mariotti said. “I look forward to benefiting from their significant experience and insight, along with the rest of the Board, as we execute on our long-term growth strategy.”
Denson spent 13 years overseeing Nike branding before retiring in early 2014. Kriger helped sustain and expand corporate brands for McDonald’s, Starwood Hotels and Disney.
