The recent barrage of airplane maintenance issues has prompted closer scrutiny of the Federal Aviation Administration and airlines by Congress.
The chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee blamed the “cozy relationship between the FAA and airlines” and called for a “change in attitude at the highest levels of the FAA.” His remarks came earlier this week – before even more maintenance concerns grounded 52 Boeing 777s flown by United Airlines today.
The FBI is investigating possible death threats directed at the whistleblower in the Southwest Airlines inspections fiasco earlier this month.
