EVERETT – Nextel will offer free rides to the public in two full-motion NASCAR simulators today outside Nextel’s retail store near Target in Greentree Plaza, 505 SE Everett Mall Way.
The simulators help promote Nextel’s Donate a Phone program, which benefits the American Red Cross’ armed forces emergency services campaign. It provides phones to troops deployed overseas so they can reach relatives during family emergencies.
Donations of old cell phones – any cell phones, not just Nextel phones – phone accessories or cash will be accepted. The phones will be recycled and all proceeds, on average about $2.50 per phone, will go to the Red Cross campaign.
Since May 2003, Nextel has raised nearly $1 million dollars for the program.
