Another week, another delay in the Haggen auction.
The auction for the 33 remaining Haggen stores in the Pacific Northwest has been postponed until Feb. 22, according to paperwork filed Monday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.
The auction is still planned to be held in the law offices of Stroock &Stroock &Lavan in New York City. The Bellingham-based grocery store chain is in bankruptcy after buying 146 stores across the West as part of the Safeway-Albertsons merger last year.
The acquisition proved to be too much for the chain to handle. Haggen has shut down and sold dozens of those stores.
As part of the restructuring process, Haggen has been required to explore selling all of its operations, including its core profitable stores.
The auction was originally scheduled for Jan. 8, but has been pushed back several times now. No reason has been given in court documents for the delays.
