I’m really not THAT obsessed with the cellphone law going into effect tomorrow, but this was too funny to pass up.
It may no longer be legal here – or in California – to hold a cellphone while driving, but there are A LOT of other things that aren’t specifically prohibited while driving. Here are some of them: eating, reading, taking notes (as a reporter, I’ve done this while driving, I admit).
Dan Neil of the LA Times demonstrates a few others, too, here …
A note about the star of this video. Dan Neil is the Pulitzer Prize-winning car columnist for the LA Times. One of my secret passions is high-octane cars. I’ve almost always driven old Volvo sedans since I got my license lo these many years ago as a teen. I like how they drive and their quirkiness. But I love reading about faster, flashier cars. The kind you see in that great British show, “Top Gear.” Which is why I read Neil’s column every week. He’s spoke to journalists here at The Herald a few years ago, and he’s as funny in person as he is in writing.
Anyway, for safety’s sake, I’ll give a disclaimer for the above video: DON’T TRY ANY OF THESE THINGS BEHIND THE WHEEL. Or, at the very least, don’t blame me if you do.
