Gov. Jay Inslee will reveal on Thursday his plan for keeping design and manufacturing work on Boeing’s 777X in Washington state.
The governor also plans to unveil a comprehensive strategy “to support and grow” the state’s aerospace industry, according to a media advisory on Tuesday.
Inslee will discuss both efforts at an event Thursday afternoon at the Future of Flight Aviation Center in Mukilteo. He’ll be joined by state and local lawmakers, labor and business representatives and members of the Washington Aerospace Partnership.
Earlier this month, Boeing’s board gave approval to begin offering an updated version of the Everett-built 777 to airlines.
Boeing has not said where it will build the 777X, which will have composite wings and new engines, though Boeing’s CEO has called Everett an “attractive place” for it. The company’s site in North Charleston, S.C., also is considered a contender for future work.
