The Downtown Edmonds Business Improvement District Committee will host an information night on Wednesday, Oct. 26, in the Plaza Room at the Edmonds Public Library.
All business owners and interested parties within the BID district are invited. The event begins at 6 p.m. with wine and appetizers, followed by the meeting at 6:30 and a question-and-answer period at 7.
“We want supporters and skeptics to join us,” BID committee chair David Arista said. “If you’ve signed the petition, you should attend, and if you are unsure about signing you should be there.”
Invitations were mailed this week and information about the event is posted on the BID website, www.edmondsBID.org. A map of the BID is also available on the site.
Attendees are encouraged to bring questions and comments as well as ideas for how the BID could improve downtown Edmonds for businesses and residents.
“One of the goals of this meeting is to provide a format for local businesses to weigh in on the BID process, ask tough questions and get involved in making the BID work for them,” Arista said.
The committee continues to make progress towards the goal of forming a BID in the downtown core by early 2012. Arista said the committee was near 70 percent of its goal in obtaining signatures.
Business Improvement Districts exist throughout the Northwest and provide a stable source of funds to help their local business communities work together to market and improve their neighborhoods.
