MARYSVILLE — The Better Business Bureau is giving an F-rating to Marysville-based Kiana Hawaiian Wear after the retailer failed to respond to at least 30 customer complaints this year.
Kiana sells T-shirts, sandals and dresses through an online store. Customers have complained about the company to the Better Business Bureau, alleging the retailer does not deliver orders, does not respond to phone calls or emails and does not issue refunds.
“Their website said they were in stock on Pali sandals at the time,” a consumer told the Better Business Bureau. “Now, I check the status of my order and there is not a shipping date for my sandals. The website claims they are out of the sandals but yet they already charged my Visa for the sandals.”
The business did not respond to phone calls or email from The Herald Business Journal.
Dozens of comments and posts on Kiana’s Facebook page suggest consumers are frustrated with not just delivery issues but with the company’s lack of response to emails and phone calls.
Consumers also claim the company is charging for products that are apparently not even in stock. Complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau indicate the same issues.
A May 27 statement on Kiana’s Facebook page reads, “This is the same thing we encountered in June of 2013. The demand is even higher than last year and our suppliers have had difficulty keeping up. All we can ask is please be patient. You are all important to us!”
A year earlier, Kiana made a similar Facebook post asking its customers for patience after one of the company’s partners was in an accident.
The Better Business Bureau serving Alaska, Oregon and Western Washington encourages consumers to research a company before making a purchase. Consumers can search for reputable businesses at bbb.org or file a complaint at the site if a company does not work to resolve concerns.
