Low-cost carrier easyJet may have found a new way to boost revenue in tough times: mile-high weddings.
The airline, based at London Luton Airport, has applied to local authorities for permission to let passengers say “I do” on their Airbus A319 aircraft fleet.
“More and more couples are looking for an extraordinary wedding: under water, during parachute jumping, on the football ground – creativity knows no bounds,” said the airline.
This certainly isn’t the first unusual idea that an airline recently has come up with as a way to generate revenue (or publicity). Ryanair’s CEO is infamous for his pay-toilet idea. And, there’s the “fat-tax” fee some airlines are implementing, forcing large passengers to either pay for two seats or a business class seat.
The council at the London airport said it’s looking into the matter. But at least one easyJet pilot said he’s up to the task of officiating.
“It would be exciting, if I could marry couples above the clouds,” Easyjet captain Jeffery Husson told AFP.
