This week, Google and American Express Open launched a national contest for Small Business Saturday, which is Nov. 26.
Thirty-six winning entrepreneurs will be featured on the event’s YouTube homepage, reaching 20 million daily visitors, to drive business on Small Business Saturday, which is
the day after Black Friday.
From the Google and American Express press release:
The competition challenges small businesses to produce online videos about their companies, telling their entrepreneurial stories, using My Business Story, a tool that the two companies launched today that enables the creation of professional quality video—for free.
Winners will also receive thousands of dollars in free advertising credits on Google. Until now, videos of this quality were reserved for companies with substantially larger marketing budgets. Google research has shown that companies who effectively leverage video can expect better customer engagement and retention: online video boosts brand recall by 50 percent and likeability by 26 percent.
FedEx said earlier this month $1 million to promote itself and small business in the form of $25 gift cards to be spent on Small Business Saturday.
