The Port of Everett’s new marina director is Jeff Lindhout, whose family owns Triton Marine Industries in Ferndale, which manufactures C-Dory, Osprey, SeaSport, Skagit Orca and TomCat fiberglas power boats.
Lindhout assumed the duties July 2, the port said this week. He replaces Jeff Bearman, who left the $95,000 job in May after just four months, apparently when it became known that Bearman had been convicted of felony theft of state resources in Hawaii in 2002.
Lindhout is a native of northwest Washington. His family owned BoonDocks Boats &Motors on the Bellingham waterfront and acquired the SeaSport manufacturing facility there in 2000. The recession forced a reorganization of the family business in 2010, when Lindhout and two brothers moved operations to Ferndale, drastically scaling back the business but avoiding bankruptcy, according to the Bellingham Herald.
Lindhout is a lawyer and has served as Triton’s general manager since 2000 and managing partner since 2010, according to his resume. He attended Sehome High School in Bellingham and was graduated from Gonzaga University and Gonzaga University School of Law, the port said. He is married and has two children.
Lindhout is the port’s third marina manager in a year. Bearman replaced acting marina director Scott Grindy, who left late last year and is now harbormaster for the San Mateo County Harbor District in California. Bearman began work at the Port of Everett in January and left in May. Citing personnel confidentiality, the port last month would only say that Bearman’s departure “was not related to his performance while an employee at the Port of Everett.”
