New production manager at Mukilteo’s Diamond Knot
Veteran Diamond Knot brewer Brian Guerrant is taking over the title of production manager at the Diamond Knot production brewery in Mukilteo. Brian Gilligan, just in from Kalamazoo, Michigan, will be manning the Mukilteo Brewhouse as the new swing shift production brewer. Lindsey Evans, formerly of The Ram, joined the Diamond Knot team as the new assistant manager at Mountlake Terrace.
Umpqua Bank gives $300,000 to charities*
The Roseburg, Oregon-based Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation announced nearly $300,000 in grants for nonprofit organizations focused on youth development, education and economic opportunity including Arlington Kids Kloset and others in this state. In total this quarter, 74 Community Giving grants were awarded throughout Umpqua’s West Coast footprint of five states.
EdCC alumnus gets federal grant to help Ghana youth
Edmonds Community College and Northwest Community College Initiative program alumnus Benjamin Kanligi was awarded a grant by the U.S. Department of State Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund for an innovative project to tackle global issues. Kanligi’s project, Techie Skills, is designed to provide young people in northern Ghana with opportunities to develop information and computer technology skills.
Carnegie Foundation recognizes WSU
The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching has recognized Washington State University with a Community Engagement Classification for the second time. The current classification runs for 10 years. The foundation cited WSU’s “excellent alignment among campus mission, culture, leadership, resources, and practices to support dynamic and noteworthy community engagement,” as the reason for the re-classification.
State Revenue department rates high on taxpayer survey
According to results of a recent survey, taxpayers give high marks to the Washington State Department of Revenue for its treatment of customers and the services it offers. Nearly 92 percent of taxpayers surveyed say they are satisfied with the quality of service that the Department of Revenue provides.
Cider class planned at EvCC
