MARYSVILLE — Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for its third annual Business and Community Leadership Awards.
The chamber’s annual leadership awards program celebrates businesses or individuals who best represent the qualities described below for each category. Chamber officials are seeking nominations of those who epitomize excellence in the community.
Last year’s recipients:
Business of the Year: Tulalip Resort Casino;
Elected Official of the Year: Stan Jones, Tulalip Tribal Board;
Business Leader of the Year: Dr. Larry Nyland, Superintendent, Marysville School District;
Volunteer of the Year: Jim Johnson, Marysville Tulalip Visitor Center;
Millikan-Howard Chairman’s Award: David Toyer.
Chamber officials will honor those who best represent the qualities described below for each category:
“The Howard-Millikan Chairman’s award is named for Mike Howard and Ian Millikan, past chairmen of the Marysville Tulalip Chamber of Commerce, whose longstanding commitment to the chamber and leadership on business and community issues made a substantial improvement,” said Caldie Rogers, chamber president and chief executive.
The Business of the Year award recognizes a member business that has made a substantial contribution to the chamber and the greater Marysville-Tulalip community. Criteria for the award include leadership shown by its employees; community service, corporate citizenship and volunteerism; business growth; customer service; innovative business practices; and adherence to high business and ethical standards.
The Business Leader of the Year award recognizes a member who has made a substantial contribution to the chamber and the greater Marysville-Tulalip community. Criteria for the award include community service and volunteerism, business practices and demonstrated leadership on local business and community issues.
The Volunteer of the Year award recognizes a member or volunteer of the chamber who has made a substantial contribution of time to the chamber and the greater Marysville-Tulalip community.
“The chamber believes it is important to recognize the leadership and commitment businesses and individuals bring to the greater Marysville-Tulalip community in making it a great place to live, work and play,” Rogers said. “In June, we will present our annual awards and give recognition to a business of the year, a business leader of the year, a volunteer of the year and an elected official of the year. Additionally, the chamber will be awarding its unique Howard-Millikan Chairman’s Award, an award that recognizes a longstanding commitment to leadership excellence.”
The awards will be presented at a special Business Before Hours event on June 24 and will be filmed and broadcast on the City of Marysville’s public access stations for 10 days after the event.
