The president gave a rose-garden speech for America’s small-business owners this morning, saying they embody the spirit of the country’s entrepreneurial spirit.
He talked about tax credits intended to make the nation’s health-care overhaul less daunting for small firms, and gave a brief nod to companies hurting because of the oil spill off the coast of Louisiana.
And he took the opportunity to call on Congress to approve a jobs package that would increasing lending to small businesses.
“This shouldn’t be a partisan issue,” he said. “This shouldn’t be an issue of big government versus small government. This is an issue of putting our government on the side of the small business owners who create most of the jobs in this country.”
