Here’s an unexpected left turn from Yamaha. The the world’s second-largest maker of motorcycles is diversifying into biotechnology, according to the London Times.

Key quote: “Biotechnology is not a long way from motorbikes,” said Takashi Kajikawa. “We produce a lot of CO2 because we are a manufacturer of engines and we felt we needed to at least try to reduce CO2 ourselves for society and the world.”
