Penguin Windows has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization after laying off workers in February.
Penguin filed for protection Friday in Seattle’s federal bankruptcy court.
It reported debts ranging from $1 to $10 million and at least 200 creditors.
The company is being represented by Shelly Crocker of Crocker Law Group in Seattle.
Crocker said the biggest unsecured creditor is Great Lakes Windows in Chicago.
She noted that the company, which laid off 160 workers in February, is done with mass layoffs.
She said some jobs will end as the company continues to reorganize itself.
The bankruptcy, she said, is intended “to give the company a little breathing space.”
“They’re focused on doing the right thing for their customers,” she said, adding that the company will fulfill all its contracts.
Noting that Penguin had strong business in the Vancouver, Wash., area for quite some time, she said it intends to re-form in that area.
Penguin had been based in Mukilteo.
“You regroup with your strength,” she said.
