ProteoTech of Kirkland will get $3.1 million to advance its research on potential treatments for Parkinson’s disease. The grant comes from The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.

Even not-so-diligent watchers of TV probably know that Fox announced six years ago that he suffers from Parkinson’s, which has curtailed his acting career.

Biotech giant Genentech Inc. and Roche Holding AG said today that they’ve stopped a large human test of Avastin, a blockbuster cancer drug, after more patients than expected died, according to the Associated Press.
