Air India could slash its order of Boeing Co. 787s, according to a report out Wednesday.
The carrier’s board is recommending Air India buy 12 Dreamliner aircraft from Boeing. That’s down from the airline’s original order of 27.
Boeing said on Wednesday that it will deliver fewer 787s in 2011 than previously planned.
The 787’s launch customer, All Nippon Airways, flew its first 787 flight carrying passengers on Wednesday.
Air India has been criticized by several of India’s government officials for buying too many 787s.
