Problem: Gasoline prices are crazy, but you still have to get around.
Tip: Until your name comes up on the wait list for Priuses, you’re stuck with your ride. But here’s how to squeeze the most out of a gallon of gas:
n Make sure your tires are properly inflated.
n Ditch junk in your trunk.
n Reduce drag by removing the empty cargo/sports box on top of your vehicle.
n Hold your speed at 60 mph by using your cruise control.
What you’ll save: Edmunds.com says you can increase your miles per gallon by up to 14 percent just by keeping your speed at 60 mph on the freeway. If you usually get 25 miles per gallon, that’s another four miles a gallon, giving you about 60 more miles between fill-ups.
