“Small and midsize businesses should prepare for the future now by deploying technologies that support a remote work force,” says Jane Dickson, a regional general manager at Microsoft.
“According to a national survey commissioned by Microsoft, 62 percent of employees believe that their productivity increases when they work remotely. Yet only 15 percent say their companies fully support remote working arrangements.
“This disconnect suggests a need for businesses to employ remote working policies so they can enjoy benefits like improved productivity; access to larger talent pools; and lower overhead costs for work space, insurance, utilities, maintenance and parking.”
