LYNNWOOD – Simrad Inc., a maker of marine electronics, has centralized its national repair and service department at its Lynnwood headquarters, resulting in added employees.
The consolidation is one of a number of changes in Simrad’s U.S. operations.
Brian Staton, Simrad’s president, said the centralization of the service and repair department came as a direct response to dealers who wanted simplified service.
Previously, Simrad’s office in Dania, Fla., also provided repair services.
“By centralizing our service in a single location, we’re confident we can simplify matters for our dealers and provide better, quicker service for our customers,” Staton said in a statement announcing the move earlier this summer. He could not be reached for comment Thursday.
Since then, Simrad has added about half a dozen employees to the staff at its Lynnwood headquarters. The company employs between 50 and 60 people locally.
The Florida office remains open as Simrad’s East Coast sales office and training center.
In addition to physically moving some of its operations, Simrad has appointed several new sales managers to concentrate on key sectors of the maritime market.
Simrad, based in Lynnwood since 1991, makes navigational equipment, radios and related devices for the recreational and commercial boating sectors. It is part of Norway’s Kongsberg Group, one of the world’s largest makers of marine equipment, as well as defense and aerospace systems.
