Snohomish County ranked as one of the fastest growing counties in the state both in terms of percentage and number of people moving here, according to U.S. Census Bureau estimates released today.
And the county has added nearly 50,000 new residents in just four years, according to the numbers.
The county was behind Kittitas County in percentage of growth, but just barely, said Linda Clark, a Census data dessimination specialist.
The county grew 1.876 percent from July 1, 2013 to July 1, 2014. Kittitas County grew 1.877 percent, Clark said.
In sheer numbers of new residents, Snohomish County ranked second in the state, adding 13,137 people during that timeframe.
King County saw the most growth with 33,011 new residents. Pierce County was third with an increase of 11,709.
King County remains the most populous county in the state with a population of with 2,079,967 residents, followed by Pierce County (831,928) and Snohomish County (759,583).
Washington added 87,788 residents from July 1, 2013, to July 1, 2014, according to the numbers. That means that the state grew to more than 7 million people. It has an estimated poplulation of 7,061,530.
Snohomish County has added 46,228 people since the April 1, 2010, Census, going from 713,335 people to 759,583. That’s a population increase of a little more than 6 percent.
