Portable ultrasound equipment maker SonoSite Inc. has established a sales operation in France. The launch of SonoSite France, led by general manager Roland Bonin, represents a major expansion of SonoSite’s presence in Europe, company officials said. It will be followed by direct sales subsidiaries in Germany and Spain, said Kevin Goodwin, president and CEO.
City Bank has received the Business Partnership Award from Snohomish County Human Services and the ARC Distinguished Community Service Award for 2001. The Lynnwood-based bank recently partnered with Work Opportunities, contributing $10,000 as seed money to allow people with disabilities to start their own small businesses. Since then, one person has developed a business plan, received a loan and begun a document shredding business, and other proposals are pending.
Everett-based Frontier Bank will open its fifth Pierce County branch next month in Tacoma. The new branch, at 1102 Commerce St., will be Frontier’s 38th branch. Greg Rolsma will be the manager. He is the former areas sales leader for Key Bank in Tacoma.
The Everett Area Chamber of Commerce is joining the Washington Policy Center to host a small-business survey from 7:30 to 9 a.m. today at Everett Community College, 2000 Tower St. The goal is to identify key concerns of small-business leaders and develop proposed solutions for presentation to elected officials. Small-business owners may attend the forum in the college’s Parks Building, Rooms A, B and C, or to fill out an online survey at www.washingtonpolicy.org.
Boeing Co. said Tuesday that Interpublic Group’s Foote Cone &Belding has retained the aerospace giant’s estimated $60 million to $75 million worldwide advertising account. Foote Cone was the incumbent ad agency and had been widely expected to lose the account, Dow Jones News Service reported. It is rare for an incumbent to hold onto an account up for bidding.
Humorous poet Ogden Nash will be honored by a new stamp in the U.S. Postal Service’s literary arts series next August. There will also be a 50-stamp set, “Greetings From America” next year with colorful artwork reminiscent of 1930s and 1940s postcards. Each features the attractions of a state.
