The Australian — the nation’s only national newspaper — says Boeing will bring its 777-200LR to Sydney for a demonstration later this month, as part of a campaign to win orders for up to 40 787s and 20 777s. (That deal would be worth, oh, say $9 billion at list prices.)

Key Quote: “Airbus has been urging airlines to order its giant 555-seat A380. The Airbus marketing pitch has been that airlines need its super jumbo to fly between giant hubs like London and Singapore. But over the past 12 months, an increasing number of airlines have questioned that assertion and turned to Boeing’s non-stop point-to-point story of economically connecting smaller cities or offering more non-stops between distant hubs.”
