GENEVA — The U.S. has appealed its own victory in a landmark trade ruling against European subsidies for planemaker Airbus.
Details of the U.S. request at the World Trade Organization were unavailable.
But U.S. trade spokeswoman Nefeterius McPherson said Thursday that Washington was challenging findings in June’s 1,061-page verdict.
The apparent aim is to secure a tougher condemnation of EU government support in a market worth more than $3 trillion over the next two decades.
The WTO found that Airbus gained an unfair advantage over U.S. competitor Boeing Co. through billions worth of low-interest loans and other funding.
The EU appealed the case last month. It is awaiting the results of its complaint alleging improper U.S. funding for Boeing.
