V Australia, a branch of Virgin Blue, has pushed out deliveries of two Boeing 777-300 ERs.
The Boeing jets were to be delivered in 2010 and now will arrive in 2011 and 2012. These are likely two of the 60 deferral requeststhat Boeing received in the first quarter. The company already has announced plans to slow production rates on its 777 line beginning in June 2010.
Earlier this year, Sir Richard Branson came to Seattle to pick up the first V-Australia 777 from Boeing. Branson delivered some harsh words for Boeing and its Machinists. V Australia’s first jet was delayed by the Machinists’ strike, causing Branson to have to push out the launch of the new airline.
I bet it wasn’t too difficult, then, for Branson to convince Boeing to delay these 777s.
