This is the opposite of small business, but I’m posting about it here for that reason. There’s a Wal-Mart under construction in Arlington, just a few exits away from another Wal-Mart on the Tulalip reservation.
Talking about Wal-Mart is sort of like talking about politics or religion at Thanksgiving dinner. It’s a contentious issue, and the discussion usually ends with someone mad at someone else.
The new supercenter in Arlington will mean about 300 new jobs, not to mention more construction jobs during the building process. It also means increased traffic and another worry for other businesses in the area, which could be undercut by the retail giant’s low prices.
There are a lot of opinions about Wal-Mart. Feel free to sound off with yours, either in the forum below or at the end of one of the stories linked to in this post.
