Wal-Mart officials say they haven’t decided what to do with the property they own near the Everett Mall. But they know what they won’t be doing.
“… It will not be a Sam’s Club,” said Jennifer Spall, director of public affairs and governmental relations for Wal-Mart in Bellevue.
Spall said the company bought the properties in Everett and in Beaverton, Ore., earlier this year when Haggen Foods closed two of its supermarkets.
The Everett site, a former Top Foods store, is about 70,000 square feet. Wal-Mart purchased it for $10 million and is to add 20,000 square feet to the building in the next year or two.
“While plans are being submitted as to what we may eventually do with the property, we have no immediate plans to open it and it is a land bank project,” Spall said.
