Front Porch: Children can learn about yoga at Mukilteo Library

Yoga for the young

Children ages 5 to 12 are invited to explore yoga at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Mukilteo Library, 4675 Harbour Point Blvd. Kids can learn strength-building poses, such as cat, cow, warrior, lion and frog. The session ends with a meditation exercise aimed at improving focus and reducing stress.

History books for sale: The Friends of the Edmonds Library’s ongoing book sale features history titles, including books, CDs and DVDs. The book shelves with items for sale are inside the library at 650 Main St. Volunteers often pluck out featured books for a chosen theme.

The ongoing book sale program brought in nearly $15,000 for library programs last year. Learn more at www.edmondslibraryfriends.org.

Classic cars sought: Granite Falls holds its Show ‘n’ Shine on Aug. 6 and seeks participants to show off their classic cars. Those who register by July 27 will get a free pancake breakfast. Registration cost is $25 and includes a T-shirt. The event is free for spectators and also includes family-friendly vendors and food. Volunteers also are welcome.
