2024 Mercedes GLC 43 Offers Luxury, Style And Performance

On- Or Off-Road, This Versatile Coupe Excels

For those looking for a luxury vehicle that combines sporty performance, high efficiency, and the ability to wander off-road look no farther than the 2024 Mercedes-Benz AMG GLC 43 Coupe.

At rest, the model creates a first impression that embodies elegance and dynamism, from its 21-inch, AMG Y-spoke wheels, to its sculpted exterior topped with a “Graphite Grey Magno” coat of enamel with matte finish.

Whether on- or off-road, it impresses with its comfort and agility thanks to standard sport suspension. Off-road, the coupe benefits from numerous features such as 4MATIC all-wheel drive. The off-road screen and the “transparent hood” as an element of the standard Surround View 360-degree camera further enhance the driving experience.

Powered by a handcrafted, AMG 2.0-liter inline 4 turbocharged engine with hybrid assist mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, GLC 43 delivers 416 horsepower, 369 lb-ft of torque, and 24 miles per gallon fuel economy.

It has an electronically-limited top speed of 155 miles per hour and a range of up to 435 miles from a 17.4 gallon fuel tank. The mild hybrid comes with 48-volt technology and an integrated starter-generator for an extra boost and energy recuperation.

In off-road mode, the GLC 43 delivers “Surround View” which offers a “transparent hood.” The central display shows a virtual view under the front of the vehicle, including the front wheels and their steering position. This enables the driver to recognize obstacles in their path such as large rocks or deep potholes sooner and more easily.

The new GLC coupe is a pleasantly quiet vehicle with a distinctive sound signature that announces its presence before reaching its destination. A panoramic sunroof is standard, offering a significantly increased opening area – 2.4 inches longer.

Creature comforts include heated and ventilated black leather front seats with lumbar support, exquisite Burmester surround sound system, advanced USB package, MBUX infotainment system, ambient lighting, inductive wireless smartphone charging, and a heated steering wheel with paddle shifts for faux manual shifting.

On a recent day trip to Bellingham, the GLC 43 proved to be an invaluable companion. The vehicle’s power, aerodynamics and road manners were on display on the freeway northbound. The return trip included Chuckanut Drive where its handling, agility and suspension were the stars. GLC 43 would make the perfect road trip car across country.

The latest generation of the “Driver’s Assistance2” reduces driver workload in day-to-day situations for more comfortable and safer driving and is able to respond to impending collisions as the situation demands.

For example, active distance assist can maintain a pre-set distance to vehicles ahead on all road types. The current speed limit can be selected as the speed setting at the push of a button. The active brake assist uses the sensors installed in the vehicle to detect imminent collisions with crossing or oncoming traffic or rear-end collisions.

When a dangerous situation is detected, the system can issue an acoustic and visual alert. If the driver fails to brake hard enough, it can also assist by appropriately increasing the braking force or initiating an emergency stop. One of the new features of active steering assist is lane detection with an additional 360-degree camera, which offers advantages especially at low speeds.
