The Nissan Rogue compact SUV is updated for 2025 by the inclusion of the brand’s ProPilot Assist 2.1 system on top trims, enabling hands-free single-lane freeway driving. A 360-degree camera with front wide view and invisible hood view is added to some trims. But the most notable news is the introduction of a new model called Rock Creek.
The Rock Creek edition gives a boost to Rogue’s outdoor capability by fitting it with all-terrain tires, a tubular roof rack with integrated cross bars, hill descent control system, and an HD around-view monitor with moving object detection and off-road mode. The Rogue Rock Creek also gets standard all-wheel drive, heated leatherette front seats with contrast stitching, and a 12-volt outlet in the cargo area.
Appearance enhancements give the Rock Creek a more rugged look than other models in the Rogue lineup, including a unique front fascia and grille. Rock Creek badging appears in exterior and interior locations.
As with all 2025 Rogue models, the Rock Creek comes with a 1.5-liter inline three-cylinder engine generating 201 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque. In partnership with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), it propels the small SUV with confidence while going easy on fuel consumption. The EPA rating is 27 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined. Other models in the lineup with front-wheel drive (optional AWD) have a slightly better rating.
I’m a sucker for nature, and since nature is only found outside, the added outdoorsy touches Nissan applied to the 2025 Rogue Rock Creek were winners for me. I didn’t take my Rock Creek tester into the wild, but it wasn’t necessary. During the sub-freezing temperatures and heavy snowfall we had in Snohomish County last week, the Rock Creek had plenty of challenge.
The long uphill gravel driveway at Mare’s Nest, my estate in the Cascade Foothills, was buried in snow. There was ice on the road. Inside the Rogue Rock Creek, driving was carefree and easygoing, as though the white and slippery stuff weren’t even there.
Bonus points to the Rogue’s heater for fast and furious warming-up and de-icing.
