Leave the cooking to someone else this holiday season. Cascadia restaurant in downtown Seattle is offering a variety of special dinners to celebrate the holidays.

* Take the family out for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner and leave the cooking to Cascadia chef and co-owner Kerry Sear, 1 to 6 p.m. Nov. 25; $55, $20 ages 12 and younger.

* Join Sear for a holiday cookie decorating brunch or afternoon tea, 10 a.m. brunch, 2 p.m. tea, Dec. 12; $35, $25 kids, includes brunch or afternoon tea.

* Celebrate the holidays with family and friends and feast on a menu of roast Christmas goose, Yorkshire pudding and a buffet of holiday delights, 4 to 8 p.m. Dec. 24; $60, $25 ages 12 and younger, includes five-course set menu.

* Welcome the New Year with a seven-course tasting menu of classic dishes, reservations begin at 5 p.m. Dec. 31; $95.

Christina’s cookbook

Chef Christina Orchid released her first cookbook, “Christina’s Cookbook: Recipes and Tales from a Northwest Island Kitchen.”

Orchid, executive chef and owner of Christina’s on Orcas Island, includes her most requested recipes, as well as antidotes of her years on the island and her adventures in cooking. Throughout the book, Orchid offers chef’s tips, as well as small essays in which she reflects on her childhood, days in art school in San Francisco, and her return to Orcas Island to open her restaurant.

“Christina’s Cookbook follows Orchid’s philosophy to keep dishes simple, making her recipes accessible to chefs of any skill level. Also includes are 50 color food images by Northwest photographer Michael Skott.

“Christina’s Cookbook: Recipes and Tales from a Northwest Island Kitchen” is $29.95 and available at most bookstores, including Barnes &Noble and at www.amazon.com.
