Why go: The Boulder River trail enters a dense stand of old-growth timber, crossing a number of small creeks. About a mile in, a series of cascades and waterfalls can be seen across Boulder River on the opposite bank. At about 2.5 miles, the timber is thick and the river is seldom seen.
Distance: 8 miles round trip
Directions: From I-5, take Highway 530 east past Arlington to French Creek Road (mile post 41). Turn right (south) onto Forest Service Road 2010 and follow for 3.7 miles to the trailhead. The dirt road is narrow and very rough. No permit needed for parking.
