And the winners of the Monte Cristo awards are …

EVERETT — Keeping Everett beautiful is important to the city and its economy, so each year homeowners and business owners are honored for their efforts to enhance the curb appeal of their properties.

The 22nd annual Monte Cristo awards reception and ceremony is set for 6:30 tonight, Oct. 13, at the Everett Performing Arts Center, 2710 Wetmore Ave. Each winner receives a plaque for the exterior of the home or business.

Those who attend will be treated to a slide show of all winners’ properties. It’s also an opportunity to learn more about Everett’s neighborhoods and a chance to be inspired.

Awards are given in four categories: Green Gardening, the city’s new award for homeowners who manage stormwater runoff and and use natural yard care; Neighborhood-Friendly Business, for owners of businesses that look good; Pride of the Neighborhood, which honors homes and gardens that are consistently beautiful; and Rejuvenation and Transformation, which goes to residential property owners who have made a change for the better.

The top award, the Marian Krell, honors a prior Monte Cristo award recipient who has excelled in maintaining exceptional care and attractiveness of their home and landscape.
