How do you get the best signal from a flying bomber?
The FHC’s B-25 Mitchell has a trailing antenna that can be extended into the air behind the plane in flight. This image shows the antenna, connected to a reel and cable, in its retracted state.
It has a heavy weight on its trailing end and a wooden ball to snugly catch the piece of communication equipment next to the skin of the aircraft when it is not in use.
