Big Hoobajoob Art Show: Darrington’s longest continually running art show is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 and noon until 6 p.m. Aug. 19 at 605 S. Emens Ave, Darrington. The show features the works of local artists Ron Wolff, Holly Cannell and Gordy Beil. Call 360-436-0711.

Cascadia Art Museum fundraiser: The museum’s annual summer gala is scheduled for Aug. 25. It will include a dinner, desserts and a silent and live auction. Adult Art Scholarships: The Stanwood Camano Art Guild offers a variety of ongoing art classes year-round at A Guilded Gallery, 8700 271st St. NW, Stanwood. The scholarships pay for the class fee and art supplies. See “Americans Interned: A Family’s Story of Social Injustice,” through Sept. 1. This exhibit shares the personal stories of the Japanese-Americans interned during World War II through portraits and mixed-media pieces by Chris and Jan Hopkins, the Schack’s Artists of the Year. On third Thursdays, the museum is open until 8 p.m. and is free during Art Walk Edmonds hours, 5 to 8 p.m. The museum is at 190 Sunset Ave., Edmonds. Admission is$10, with discounts for seniors and students. Call 425-336-4809. “Drama and Design: Yvonne Twining Humber and Blanche Morgan Losey,” through Sept. 30. This exhibition brings together the work of two prominent regional artists active in Seattle during the 1930s to ’50s. “Travelogue: Views Beyond the Northwest,” through Jan. 6. The museum now participates in the Blue Star Museums program, which offers free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families, including National Guard and Reserve, from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Everett Community College: Russell Day Gallery is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Fridays in Parks Student Union, 2000 Tower St., Everett. “EXHIBIT 298,” the annual student exhibition, is on display through the summer. The exhibit features the artwork of graduating and second-year students in ceramics, digital and media, graphic design, painting, photography and printmaking at Everett Community College.
Gallery North: August’s exhibit is JR Hawse’s “Western Stories.” The artist brings to life elements of the West as seen through the eyes of a storyteller. Her subjects include wildlife, pioneer times, landscapes, and portraiture of the Old West. Mountlake Terrace Library: The Janice H. Patterson exhibit is on display for the month of August at the Mountlake Terrace Library, 23300 58th Ave. W., Mondays through Thursdays, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sundays 1 to 5 p.m. Raised in North Carolina, Patterson spent many years as a southern girl before moving to Seattle in 2009. She studied the work of artists such as Helen Frankenthaler, Georgia O’Keefe, Joan Mitchell, Jackson Pollock, Mark Rothko and Pablo Picasso. Call 425-776-8722.
Rob Schouten Gallery: The gallery, at 101 Anthes Ave., Langley, is open weekends 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Thursday and Friday 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This month’s exhibit features artists Buffy Cribbs and Bruce Morrow. In recent years Cribbs has focused on the human figure in acrylic paintings. Morrow uses bright colors to achieve fresh, spontaneous images of Western Americana. The exhibit runs through Aug. 27.
