Murals in Edmonds: Three new murals will be mounted in downtown Edmonds starting July 15. The Edmonds Mural Society said one is a traditional mural, one is surrealist and one is perspectival. Members voted for a 2013 theme of Changing Times. The three murals are Andy Eccleshall’s “Changing Times,” which shows an actual walk back through time. It will be painted on the north-facing wall of 111 Fourth Avenue N; Ellen Clark’s “Coastal Companion” goes from past to present, and then into a possible future. It will be painted on the north-facing wall of 515 Main Street. Mona Smiley-Fairbanks’ “Sebastes Maliger” pays homage to the native quillback rockfish, once a bountiful species. It will be painted on the south-facing wall of 514 Fifth Avenue S. More information is available at info@edmondsmuralsociety.org, or 425-776-3778.

Edmonds Arts Festival Museum Gallery: Frances Anderson Center, 700 Main St., Edmonds; 425-771-1984. 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays. Sara Portesan, the featured Edmonds Arts Foundation Scholarship Graduate, will have an exhibit of her work in the Edmonds Arts Commission Display Case continuing through July 30.

Edmonds Frame Design and Atelier: 514 Fifth Ave. S, Edmonds. Photographer David McCrae will be showing new, large black and white and color images through July 12.

Edmonds Library: 650 Main St., Edmonds; 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. Lanie Franza’s northwest landscape series, “Sensing Light,”takes viewers on a journey through northwest locations.. The exhibit is up through July 31.

Fisherman’s Market &Grill: 1032 West Marine View Drive, Everett; 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Featuring the Art Loft Sisters of Inger Hutton, Paula Antonevich, Christine Hansen, Dorrinda Carlson and Sandra Kramer, a group of like-minded females who promote new and emerging artists, will be showing a mixed-media event July 6 through July 31. Opening reception 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 6.

Featuring photographer Kevin Wildermuth whose exhibit “Late State Patriotism in America” is up through Aug. 8. His red, white and blue images depict life in America from Main Street.

Pam Seaberg started out sewing and making art quilts. She began learning watercolor painting technique and never turned back. Her show of paintings is on view through July 31.

Artist reception from 4 to 7 p.m. July 5 featuring at least four dirftwood sculpture artists showcasing the combination of nature and art. Also featured is Seattle singer/songwriter Larry Murante.

Port Gardner Bay Winery: 2802 Rockefeller Ave, Everett; 425-339-0293; portgardnerbaywinery@hotmail.com. Jerry Laktonen of Granite Falls is showing his Alaskan native art from Kodiak consisting of prints and carvings and more. Up through Aug. 10.

Red Cup Cafe: 619 Fourth St. Mukilteo; 425-348-4825; Laurie Crawford will be showing her soft pastel landscapes during the month of July; artist reception 3 p.m. July 16.

Schack Art Center: 2921 Hoyt Ave., Everett; 425-259-5050; www.schack.org. “The Art of the Garden”up through Aug. 1, showcasing art that brings the garden inside as well as classic garden art that remains outdoors in mediums that include ceramic, cement casting, sculpture, glass, photographs, paintings and more.

Also: “Visions Explored 2013,” is an exhibit featuring students completing their studies at Everett Community College in the studio art and photography programs. The show runs through Aug. 5 in the Emerging Young Artists’ Gallery at the Schack.

The Sisters: 2804 Grand Ave., Everett; 425-252-0480; 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. A new acrylic and mixed media exhibit of abstract paintings and collages by Duane Simshauser called “Rock On, Baby!” comprised of 13 works which curator Lyussy Hyder calls “abstract at its best.” The exhibit runs through July 12.

Wisedesignz: 2908 Wetmore Ave., Everett; 425-259-2361; www.wisedesignz.com; WiseDesignz and Ron Stocke is inviting the public to share their original paintings done by Ursula Stocke to hang at the gallery as a tribute to Ursula, who died recently. Contributors are asked to share the story of the painting(s) you own in a paragraph to be hung next to the painting. This is display only as a way to share stories of her. None of this art is for sale. Deliver your original paintings/drawings/ sketches by Ursula Stocke after July 8; the show will run through July.

The Wards design functional art for the garden, wall plaques and mirrors, and lanterns. Their works can be seen during Artworks First Friday reception 5 to 8 p.m. July 5 with live music by guitarist Quinn Fitzpatrick, light snacks and beverages available.

Raven Rocks Gallery: 765 Wonn Road, C101, Greenbank, 360-222-0102, www.ravenrocksstudio.com. “Lizard and Fish Tales” is an exhibit featuring the artwork of Tim Potter; opening reception 5 to 8 p.m. July 5; up through Aug. 1. Potter calls his art “meticulous whimsy.” He uses pen and ink, acrylic paint, pastelboard, scratchboard and paper to create complex patterns and interrelated shapes with subjects such as lizards and fish.

Rob Schouten Gallery: Greenbank Farm, C-103, 765 Wonn Road, Greenbank; 360-222-3070; www.robschoutengallery.com. “Invitational Handmade Print Show” through July 11 is a celebration of hand printing techniques, traditional and new.

Skagit County

La Conner Quilt &Textile Museum: 703 S Second St., La Conner; 360-466-4288; www.laconnerquilts.com. “Kaleidoscope: Fiber Embroidery by Liz Whitney Quisgard,” features a 3-D quality captured on a 2-D surface. She has said her goal is “to surprise and engage the mind by seducing the eye.” Her work is on display through Oct. 6.

Seattle

Closed on Tuesday and Friday evenings, open on select Monday holidays. Admission $7 to $13, free ages 12 and under, first Thursdays free for all. “Future Beauty: 30 Years of Japanese Fashion,” on view through Sept. 8: a look at avante-garde Japanese fashion; first museum in the United States to showcase the collection from the Kyoto Costume Institute.

Seattle Asian Art Museum: 1400 East Prospect St., Seattle; 206-654-3100; 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Admission $7 and $5, free ages 12 and under.

SAM Gallery: 1220 Third Ave.; 206-343-1101; samgallery@seattleartmuseum.org; 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays; closed Sunday through Tuesday. The gallery is moving from its Seattle Tower location to the Seattle Art Museum’s downtown facility on First Avenue this fall. For the past 10 years local Northwest artists have received gallery exposure and a place to display and trade their works. Moving the gallery into the museum gives local artists continued visibility at SAM’s downtown location.

“Stitchery”: craft and fine art coalesce in “Stitchery,” at the SAM Gallery, a show by artists whose work incorporates the mediums of crocheting, knitting, quilting and stitching.On view July 18 through Aug. 17; an opening reception is from 5 to 7 p.m. July 18.

Olympic Sculpture Park: 2901 Western Ave., Seattle. “The Western Oracle: We Will Tear the Roof Off the Mother, 2013”: A new large-scale work of art by Seattle artist Heather Hart. This interractive piece is a roof that people can climb on or crouch down into its ground-level attic. Up through Oct. 13.

“Illumination”: Women Painters of Washington Gallery, 701 Fifth Ave., Columbia Center Building, Suite 310, Seattle; 206-624-0543; www.womenpainters.com; www.wpwgallery.blogspot.com;http://www.womenpainters.com; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday through Aug. 30. The gallery is free and open to the public; this is a group art exhibition, showcasing 30 member artists from the greater Puget Sound region.

Art Quest for Kids, Summer Art Camps 2013: Camps run July through August. Each four day camp is 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and will feature different art projects such as; acrylic painting, sculptures made from driftwood, wire or clay, wooden puzzle piece paintings, animal carousels, mask making, pastels and drawing. Camps will be held at the Delzell Studio, 2177 Highland Drive, Camano Island, where kids can go to the beach, play in a driftwood fort or beach-comb for art projects. Schack Art Center: selected Everett painter Josey Wise as the 2013 Poster Artist for Fresh Paint: Festival of Artists at Work Aug. 17 and 18. A self-taught artist, Wise paints primarily in oil.

Northwest artist Jack Dorsey of Camano Island: won the Palouse Watercolor Socius’s top prize in their four-state regional juried art show; the Avista Best of Show Award for $1,000. Two of Dorsey’s watercolors, “Back Porch Carnations” and “Prize of Summer,” are included in the 36 paintings that will hang in the University of Idaho’s Prichard Art Gallery in downtown Moscow. The exhibition is open during gallery hours through Aug. 3.
