Just heard that UW defensive coordinator Kent Baer and special teams/tight ends coach Bob Simmons got their pink slips today. Not surprising. The defense was horrible and Simmons’ output was minimal. I’m sure the sharks are in a conga line and swilling run. Me, I’m sick of firings, espcially this close to Christmas. I know it’s in vogue for columnists to go after losing programs and demand massive firings, but I still think it sucks. Sorry.
Speaking os sucking, how ‘bout those Seahawks? Just when you think they’ve got it going with a five-game win streak, they mommy up to the canvas and turn in a disaster in Carolina. Gotta give credit to the Panthers. They were obviously fired up from the opening kickoff. But these days, Shaun Alexander falls down if you look at him wrong. Then when he breaks off one decently long run, out pops the ball. Can the Seahawks trade up in the draft and get Darren McFadden? Now THAT would be fun.
Finally, on a personal note, I finished my Christmas shopping. My daughter and nephews will be suitably spoiled. Even the adults in the Sleeper clan didn’t fare badly. Wait a minute. Why am I telling YOU?
