Beat the winter blues, the flu and the tax man

1. Beat the January blues.

Here are some tips from Mill Creek fashion blogger Anne Dofelmier’s “Daily Fashion Muse.”

If you have to work out, you may as well look great doing it. Feeling good in your workout gear gives you a lot more motivation to keep at it.

How fun is it to cuddle anything furry? The faux fur scarves available now are so cute and cuddly, they are irresistible.

Boots are an absolute necessity come winter. But no one ever said they had to be dull. Bright colors, embellished with studs, metallic, velvet and animal print are all on trend. Don’t stop there. Go bold with gloves.

2. Beat the flu.

American Family Care offers these “habits” to stay well.

Avoid sharing pens. Whether at work or signing a credit card receipt at a store, never pick up public pens because they’re covered with other people’s germs. Keep a pen handy.

Knuckle it. When using a debit card machine, punch in your card pin with a knuckle instead of a fingertip. This way if you rub your eye or mouth with your fingertip, you’re not transferring germs.

Play it safe at the pump. Drivers must get gas for their vehicles no matter what, sick or not. At the pump, grab a paper towel before picking up the gas nozzle. You can also use the towel as a barrier when punching in your debit/credit card info.

Hands off. You are constantly using your phone to show friends and coworkers pictures or videos. This means other people are putting their germs on something you are constantly touching. Wipe your phone with a disinfecting wipe. Or just text your friends photos and videos.
