Who needs cake when you’ve got an American Idol?
Blake Lewis plans to celebrate his birthday by playing a 21 and over show at Mill Creek’s Jet Bar and Grill on July 25.
Tickets are available for $20 at the venue, 800 164th St SE, Mill Creek, or for $26.61 online at www.brownpapertickets.com. The show starts at 9 p.m. Call the club at 425-743-4593 for more details.
Lewis, a Bothell native, shot into the spotlight after a second-place finish on “American Idol” in 2007, losing to Jordin Sparks. While his debut album, “Audio Day Dream,” sold nearly 300,000 copies, he was dropped from his label, Arista Records, in June, according to MTV.
“I guess in the world of radio, selling 300,000 is not a success,” he told MTV. “I beg to differ. I couldn’t be happier, and my fans are amazing and supersupportive.”
Lewis, who turns 27 on Monday, said he’s working on a followup record that is “”Massive Attack meets Zero 7 — drum-and-bass with a little pop influence.”
