For this week’s video round-up, we bring you all sorts of happy feats: A crappy live video with good sound, the new clip from Nada Surf, and a very jittery but cool song by Vampire Weekend.
Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward – “Lonesome Town” (Ricky Nelson cover) – Crappy live video with good sound
Happy feat! The Internets tell me that actress Zooey Deschanel and the terrific singer/songwriter M. Ward are putting out an album on indie label Merge, called “Volume One” as soon as March. Those not familiar with Deschanel’s wonderful voice should check out this (admittedly poor) video from a live show.
Nada Surf – “Whose Authority” – Video
Hey, speaking of celebrities, isn’t that Michael C. Maronna from “The Adventures of Pete and Pete” in the new Nada Surf video? Well, I’ll be jiggered, it is! And the song’s good! Happy feat!
Vampire Weekend – “A Punk” – Video
And then there’s this: No celebrities, just those crazy Vampire Weekend kids, all jittery-edited to their very admirable track “A Punk.” I wouldn’t call this a happy feat, even if it does remind me of a 1980s band imitating Blue Man Group for some reason. I can’t say why. I won’t say why.
