Vampire Weekend continued what has been an impressive few months, from a top 20 Billboard debut for their critically-loved album to this, a stint on Saturday Night Live.
The group plans to play a sold-out show on March 26 at Neumo’s in Seattle. I’ll be at the show; luckily, I got my tickets for $20, before they started selling for $50 a pair on eBay.
Vampire Weekend —”M79” — Live on SNL
Saturday Night Live continues its indie rock fascination with a performance by the rightly-lauded Vampire Weekend. Here, the band gets some help from a string quartet on “M79,” easily among the best songs from the group’s debut album.
Flight of the Conchords — “Robots/The Humans Are Dead” — TV show clip
This clip is a little dated, taken as it is from the first episode of the duo’s HBO show, which premiered over the summer. It’s worth revisiting, though, because the group has attached a release date to their full length album, scheduled to come out on Sub Pop records April 22. Dig that binary solo.
Supergrass — “Bad Blood” — Video
Supergrass trot out what seems to be a buzz-worthy clip. Somehow, I’m bored until the end, when instruments start to morph into breakable objects and a drum explodes with popcorn.
