Hear some of the best and most enthusiastic bluegrass music around at a concert Saturday evening in Maltby.
The Maltby jams’ 23rd annual bluegrass concert, auction and jam is April 15 at the Maltby Community Club, near the Maltby Cafe.
Proceeds from the fundraising event benefit the upkeep of the club building, where bluegrass music reigns king on the first Saturdays of each month.
Doors open at 2 p.m. on Saturday for anyone who wants to join the bluegrass or old-time music jam sessions, and the concert starts at 7 p.m.
The featured bands include Roosevelt Road, Fidelity Grange and Me &The Boys.
Roosevelt Road hails from Snohomish, and their music runs the gamut including bluegrass, gospel and Americana. Members include Jane and Steve McMahon, Mike Janda, Loren Postma and Robbie Bennett.
“Bluegrass is the most honest music,” concert organizer Jan Jones said, and most people who attend the concert will agree.
Me &The Boys members are from various parts the Puget Sound region. They count among their influences The Seldom Scene, David Grisman and Jerry Garcia, and Ricky Skaggs. The band plays bluegrass, newgrass and country music.
The rumor about Fidelity Grange is that the concert will mark a reunion of sorts for this band, which formed about 10 years ago at the Maltby Bluegrass Jam.
If you are a bluegrass music fan, this concert is a sure thing.
