Bluesman brings the Chicago style to Everett

When Mark (Miles) Bushbeck moved to Seattle from Chicago about a decade ago, he brought the Chicago-style blues with him.

Now the band Miles From Chicago delivers high-energy dance-oriented blues, rock and R&B, this time Thursday in Everett.

After playing with various Seattle-area bands, Bushbeck created Miles From Chicago with former Warner Brothers recording artist Tom Brighton, classically trained keyboardist Tom Morrison, percussionist Rick Jacobson, and Scotty Harris (recently nominated “Best Horn” by the Washington Blues Society).

Steve Miller Band: A headliner since 1968’s “Children of the Future” debut, Miller returns to Marymoor Park for a Sunday performance. He’ll be surrounded by a long line of hits, including “Rockin’ Me,” “The Joker,” and “Fly Like an Eagle.”

Frank and Joe Show: Infectious rhythms (“Long Train Running”), romance (“Stardust”), and sing-alongs (“It Had to Be You”) are part of guitar virtuoso Frank Vignola and master percussionist Joe Ascione. They perform Tuesday and Wednesday in Seattle. Throw in a little gypsy swing with the pop-inflected jazz and listeners can only have a good time mixed with appreciation.

Liza Minnelli: Life’s still not easy for the singer and actress (her concert schedule is interspersed with a divorce and a lawsuit). Minnelli performs tonight in Seattle. On the up side, she’s on a successful tour, and has been offered TV work and a movie role. The powerhouse vocalist is one of the few to win an Oscar, Tony, Grammy and Emmy.

Natalie Merchant: The former frontwoman and co-founder of folk-rockers 10,000 Maniacs continues down her own path, performing Saturday in Redmond with music from “The House Carpenter’s Daughter,” as well as earlier material. It’s been two years since Merchant and her core band has played together.
