Leave a light on: Next weekend, Port Gardner will come ablaze for Everett’s annual Christmas Lighted Boat Parade, as local boaters set their vessels aglow with strings of lights.
Activities for the annual event, hosted by the Everett Yacht Club, begin at 5 p.m. Dec. 13 in north Everett. A shakedown parade also occurs the previous night, at 6:30 Friday. The route for both nights begins at the 10th Street Boat Launch, heads south toward the Everett Naval Station and then turns back north for the return trip.
Viewing is available anywhere along the route with water access. On Saturday, additional viewing is available from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Anthony’s Homeport visitors dock, 1726 W. Marine View Drive.
On Saturday, shoreside spectators will be treated to candy canes, hot cocoa and Christmas music. A tree-lighting ceremony hosted by the city will occur at the Everett Marina, W. Marine View Drive at 17th Street.
All are encouraged to bring donations for local food banks, which will have volunteers on hand to collect.
For more information on the event, or to register your vessel for participation, e-mail fleet captain Tina Sauer at elnido3@comcast.net or call 425-330-9329.
