Anacortes author Dave Larson will talk about his book about baseball in the early days of Snohomish County, “Wide Awakes, Invincibles, and Smokestackers: Early Baseball in Lumber Country,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Waltz Building in Snohomish. Larson is starting another book on the subject and will be bringing many new photos and stories to this free event. The Waltz Building is at 116 Ave. B.
Just in time for Father’s Day local author Alex Mindt will read from and sign his collection of stories about fatherhood, “The Male of the Species,” at 7 p.m. Thursday at Edmonds Bookshop. Mindt, who was born and raised in Edmonds, has set some of his stories in the Northwest.
Local author Dr. William Gould will discuss his novel, “Harmony Church: The Chronicle of an Unlikely United States Army Ranger,” the first of a trilogy, at 7 p.m. Thursday at Main Street Books in Monroe. The novel tells the story of the trials of a young Vietnam combat officer. Gould served in Vietnam and was a volunteer physician in post-war Vietnam, Ethiopia and Sudan. He is also a pilot and currently in the process of patenting the River Wolf hovercraft.
