* Just in time for the 45th anniversary of the Peace Corps, author Ellen Hiltebrand brings stories of the women she met during her Peace Corps service in Guatemala to Third Place Books. Hiltebrand will read from and sign “When I was Elena” at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

* George Shaffner will read and sign his new book, “One Part Angel,” at 7 p.m. Thursday at the University Bookstore at Mill Creek. “Angel” revisits Ebb, Neb., site of Shaffner’s first novel, “In the Land of Second Chances.”
* Elinor Lipman will read from and sign “My Latest Grievance,” at 7 p.m. Thursday at Third Place. “Grievance” is set at a college and follows Frederica Hatch, the 15-year-old daughter of faculty parents, who’s bored and looking for diversion.
* Michael Gruber, author of “Night of the Jaguar,” will sign his latest thriller about Miami Detective Jimmy Paz at noon Saturday at Seattle Mystery Bookshop.
